'Thank you for inviting us to the Bushcraft course and teaching us valuable skills for if we ever get stuck out in the wild, or if we just fancy a night in a tent and forget the essentials. We learned a lot from the course - how to make a shelter, how to make a fire in different ways and how to filter and purify dirty water to drink.'
Samantha & Beth - Skye and Lochalsh TAG unit members.
'An excellent two days - very educational and lots of fun.'
Tom Peacock (Storey Arms O.E. Centre, Wales)
"George’s SYHA Bushcraft course added another dimension to my outdoor knowledge and experience. The highlight for me had to be fire by friction using a bow drill, and re-establishing my connections with the great outdoors. I would recommend the course to everyone interested in the outdoors and look forward to practising my new skills."
Jim Riach (Education & Training Manager, Cycling Scotland)
'We both (mother and 16-year-old son) enjoyed the weekend immensely. We came home full of what we had learned about survival in the wild, plus an increased respect for, and appreciation of the natural world. Excellent leadership by George and Maggie, friendly people, and the beautiful surroundings of Rowardennan made this an experience we would definitely recommend to friends.'
Marion and Simon Hellewell - Family Bushcraft course
I just wanted to thank you for last weekend it was fun with a capital F! Also a great learning experience for my future adventures around the world in the coming years'.
Elaine Wardrope - SYHA Adult Bushcraft Course
I really enjoyed the bushcraft weekend and I have learnt a lot about bushcraft. I think my favourite part of the weekend was the make-shift shelter building, it also took lots of hour to build but that made it more fun.
I also liked the clever ways in which we make fire, such as the flint and knuckle duster thing and the fire steel and also the tiring but very clever bow drill. All of these were amazing.
Neil Gibson - Family Bushcraft course
The course combined practical sessions, demonstrations and lectures that gave a very brief insight to the art of Bushcraft and how we could use this knowledge as International Mountain Leaders. We had a great time and came away with a host of new information and ideas that weI can use when taking clients on to the hill.'
Chris Hughes and Paul Riley - BAIML course members.
'Our week on Skye with you was, for all of us, outstanding and far beyond our wildest dreams. The weather combined with your leading expertise and your obvious love for your environment made it a very special time for us all. Your wealth of knowledge in terms of terrain, flora and fauna of the region was also exceptional and we had time, using your route knowledge, to fully appreciate the Cuillins. You provided an experience we will never forget.'
Alan wrote similar comments to the TGO magazine, and his letter was the featured Letter of the Month in the Nov. 2008 issue.
Alan Stewart - Ayrshire Slow Walkers Group.
I know from previous visits to Skye that the Cuillin are not mountains to be taken lightly. But under your expert leadership, I never once had a sense of being out of my depth.

'I recently took part in an SYHA Skye Munros Activity week led by George YeomansThis was an outstanding trip due to his professionalism and leadership. George managed to conjure technical proficiency from us when there appeared to be little, he managed to banish in us our fear of exposure and his adherence to safety created the atmosphere, safety and confidence which was essential to deliver the successful ascents.'
'Just to thank you for our two days completing four munros. We had dire premonitions about these peaks for 20 years and were delighted to have finally scaled them and, thanks to your professional approach and intimate knowledge of the mountains, to have really enjoyed it.
