The aim of this course is to hopefully climb all twelve Munros on Skye. However, this is very weather and party dependant.
You should
be a fit and experienced hillwalker with preferably some experience
of mountain scrambling, although if you have a good head for
heights
this is not so vital. For some of the harder Munros, helmets and harnesses
will be provided and instruction given as to their use. The Skye Munros
are some of the hardest mountains in Scotland. However if you are reasonably
fit and determined, they can provide a challenging and rewarding experience.
One of George's oldest clients was 82 years of age when he climbed
the Inaccessible Pinnacle and he has helped many other nervous Munroists
achieve their ambitions with his patience and understanding.
As a rough
fitness guide for the longer days, you should be able to do an eight
or more hour day, involving 4000-5000 ft. of ascent. To give you an
idea of what is involved on this particular course, have a read of
the article George wrote for the Scottish Hosteller which outlines
a similar week he runs for SYHA. Please note these SYHA Munro Courses
must be booked directly with them and not through George’s
own business (see Links).
