Leading
on from the popular Skye Munros course, George is also able to offer
mountain leading on the other Scottish Munros. Mountain areas that
he has regularly been asked to work in include Glencoe, Torridon, Glen
Nevis and Kintail and he will be running a number of these Munro weeks
for SYHA in the forthcoming season.
These weeks are aimed at those wanting to bag some more Munros by the easiest routes or for the fell walker wanting an introduction to some of Scotland’s finest mountain areas. There is no planned use of roped climbing techniques involved in any of the days, but a short safety rope is always carried by the leader to provide extra security for anyone needing it.
His week in Glencoe usually includes the famous Aonach Eagach Ridge,
Bidean nam Bian and Buachaille Etive Mor. While in Torridon the traverse
of Liathach, Beinn Alligin and Beinn Eighe are tackled. Ben Nevis is
approached by the Carn Mor Dearg Arete and Munros within the Mamores
or Grey Corries areas are also offered.
There are large number of Munros to be climbed in the Kintail and Cluanie
range including the Saddle by the Forcan Ridge, the Five Sisters, Sgurr
na Sgine and a long day along the South Cluanie Ridge.
Accommodation for these weeks can be at the local Youth Hostels or
any of the other hotels, B&B, bunkhouses etc.

For some of the remoter Munro areas such as Knoydart, Ben Alder, Glen Affric and the Fisherfield mountains, the use of bothies, camping and biving will enable a number of inaccessible peaks to be tackled over a period of a few days. Again George is available to lead groups in these areas and will supply an additional equipment list for those interested in a mini expedition approach to bagging these Munros.
