This course is aimed to improve your level of navigation, whatever your abilities are at present. If you have never used a map and compass before, then we can start with basic instruction.
For people with some knowledge we can move onto other harder aspects of navigation such as: Attack Points, Handrails, Aiming Off, Aspect of Slope, Timing, Pacing and the difficulty of navigating at night, in bad weather or snowy conditions.
It is hoped that on the two day course there may be the opportunity for one evening spent doing some night navigation. This depends on clients’ abilities, weather and time of year, (we don’t get much night in June!).
The more remote areas of Skye are used for this course as the main Cuillin Range is a very difficult place to teach certain aspects of navigation , due to the influence of magnetic rock. New for 2007 will be the opportunity to be taught Bronze, Silver and Gold levels of the National Navigational Award Scheme and also be assessed for the Bronze and Silver Levels, depending on your ability.
Please feel free to phone and discuss your requirements on any aspects of navigation.
